After 10 years of research our family has learned that “The rule of 7’s”, Adapted from original article “The Puppy Puzzle” by Pat Hastings helps tremendously with socialization. It is a lot of work but has paid off time and time again here at Palmetto Bulldogs. By Age 7 Weeks Old This Is What We Try To Accomplish Before Each Leaves To Their New Homes.

 1. Been In At Least 7 Different Locations (Backyard, Garage, Kitchen, Bedrooms, Field Trips, Vet Office etc.)

 2. Eaten from at least 7 different containers

 3. Been held and petted by at least 7 different people

 4. Taken at least 7 one-mile car rides

 5. Been in a crate at least 7 times

 6. Played with at least 7 different kinds of toys

 7. Walked on at least 7 different substrates (grass, gravel, Sand concrete, etc.)

 8. Been taken somewhere alone, without mom or littermates, at least 7 times



9. Been exposed to at least 7 challenges (climbed on a box, gone through a tunnel, climbed up steps, etc.)

10. In most cases with our knowing the history of our family it is true your puppy has been dressed up at least 7 different times... lol
